Loni Bier is a native of New York. She attended both Cornell
University and Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York where she obtained
a Bachelor of Science in Communications with a concentration in
Medical Communications. She began her career as a project director
for the pharmaceutical division of Young and Rubicam in New York
City. From there she assumed the best job of her life; motherhood.
After becoming an empty nester, she re-entered the work force where
she had the privilege of serving as the patient liaison between breast
cancer patients and breast surgeons for the American Cancer Society
in Roanoke, Virginia.
Loni wrote both community and government grants while working for
different non-profit agencies throughout her career. She thought she
had retired her writing skills when an unorthodox opportunity
presented itself for submitting a column to her local newspaper, The
Roanoke Times. When that column was met with considerable
positive feedback, she was encouraged by her readers and friends to
continue writing. The Cornershot is the compilation of over fifty of her
columns from The Roanoke Times.
She currently resides in Botetourt County, Virginia. When she isn’t
writing she is typically enjoying the fellowship of other quilters. She is
a member of The Quilts of Valor Foundation; an organization that
provides quilts of gratitude and comfort to our veterans. This
organization is very, very close to her heart. When not writing or
quilting, she plays far too much Pickleball. She lives with her husband
Tom, who plays more Pickleball than her.
